Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis was impressed by Dinesh Karthik’s superb composure under pressure after the veteran batter finished off the game against Rajasthan Royals with his sensational death-overs batting.

Plessis said: ”To make it out of nowhere you need some great characters and DK is as great a character as you can get. His composure under pressure is amazing. He is very calm and such a great asset to us. We bowled very well, until the 18th over and then Jos got some good shots. We got a score that we thought was a bit above par with the conditions and the surface spinning a bit. We started pretty well, but then Yuzi (Chahal) bowled really well to get them back in.”

RCB’s bowler Harshal Patel returned with a 1-18 spell in the 13th match of the IPL 2022 season.

“As I always say, winning the game for the team and crossing the line is why I play the game and this was one of those occasions. I had my plans when we came into play to bowl the hard length and not much slower balls as it’s a very good wicket here but it turned out to be completely different, it’s all about judging and adapting to the conditions. On top of my brand. I’m pretty sure what I want to bowl and my field placements are where I want the batter to hit me. There are certain things you can do and certain things you can’t do,” Patel said.

Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed played 44 and 45 pats respectively.

RCB continued to struggle with 87/5 in the 13th left, but Karthik and Ahmed played a gem of an innings and helped RCB past the finish line to take their second win of the current season.

Jos Buttler hit an unbeaten 70 to take Rajasthan Royals to 169 for 3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.

Buttler, who was sent off at bat, anchored the innings from start to finish, hitting six sixes in his 47-ball knock, while Shimron Hetmyer (42 not out) and Devdutt Padikkal (37) also made valuable contributions.

Royals did not have the best times in Powerplay, reaching 35 with the loss of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (4).

Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat gave RCB a good start, but that was undone by losing four wickets in the space of two overs. Sanju Samson’s brilliance led to the resignation of Virat Kohli and David Willey was subsequently removed in the same over.
