AB de Villiers was one of the pillars of the Kohli-led RCB in its prime. The camaraderie between de Villiers and Kohli grew with each new season, with the two contemporary greats sharing mutual respect and admiration for each other on numerous occasions. AB de Villiers, a fan favorite in the Bangalore team during his playing days, has retired from competitive cricket but continues to support the RCB from a distance.

“Everyone knows that Faf du Plessis comes in as captain. I think the most exciting thing for me is that Virat is not a captain and it kind of takes the pressure off, but just go out and get released. I expect a really big season from Virat. I think 600+ will walk away from him this year,” AB de Villiers says on the YouTube channel VUSport Streaming.

The ex-RCB batter also opened the nomination of his compatriot Faf du Plessis as the new captain of the Bangalore team and said the RCB skipper would allow his star batter, Kohli, to go out and withdraw from the competition. to enjoy.

“He (Kohli) will be in Faf’s ear, but Faf is also very experienced. He has had good cricket training and he would allow Virat and some youngsters to just go off, and just enjoy the IPL.

“I don’t know what to expect (from RCB) but I expect some individuals will really rise in this IPL from the RCB lineup,” added De Villiers.

RCB then takes on Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the IPL 2022 opener on Wednesday, at the DY Patil Stadium. RCB will be looking for their first win as they lost to Punjab Kings in their opening match at the same venue.
