Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja blamed the loss of too many wickets in power play for his team’s 54-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings in Mumbai on Sunday. CSK has lost for the third time in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).
Defending champions CSK chose to bowl after winning the toss (their first toss this season) as Punjab Kings scored a total of 180, which the men in yellow failed to make as they were knocked out for just 126.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who isn’t off to the best start in this year’s IPL, and batter Robin Uthappa were fired early. Moeen Ali was dodged while Ambati Rayudu was also knocked out early. With captain Jadeja also out, Chennai was 36/5 in 7.3 overs.
“We lost too many wickets in power play, we didn’t find the momentum from ball one, so we have to find a way to get better and come back stronger,” Jadeja said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Ravindra Jadeja said he is confident that Ruturaj Gaikwad will come back stronger and that the team is behind him. He scored only one point in this game.
“No, we have to give him good faith, we have to support him. We all know that he is a very good player. So we will definitely support him, and I’m sure he will be fine.”
Jadeja praised batter Shivam Dube, who was Chennai’s best player with the bat, scoring 57 on 30 pitches.
“He hit so well. He hit well today too. It will be the key to keep him in a good frame of mind.”
“We will certainly do our best and you know you work hard and come back stronger.”
