  • Du Plessis considers the SRH game a blip in their campaign

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis has said the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where the Bangalore side were out for just 68 runs, was a glitch in their campaign. In a video posted by the RCB ahead of their match against Rajasthan Royals, du Plessis took to the matter and explained why RCB needed to move quickly for that match.

“For me it’s almost a blip in the radar. I think you have to see it in the context of the season. You play a lot of games, so for me if you lose by 1 run or you lose by 500 runs, you’re still trying keep getting the number of wins you need to get to the knockout stage.”

Du Plessis said RCB cannot afford to look back at the SRH game as they have a long campaign ahead of them, and that looking back could leave a heavy baggage that could make it difficult to move on.

“You have to move on very quickly because if you carry the baggage of a game like that with you, it drags on in one or two or five or six games. It’s really important to me to break down that game and put that behind let us and focus and move forward.”

The captain said he was lucky to have people in the locker room who have experienced and understand the ups and downs of the sport and that could essentially provide a framework from which to look forward.

“The most important thing for me is that you look forward. I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of guys in the locker room who understand the ups and downs of sport.”

RCB will take on the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, March 26 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The team will face their great spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who was exceptional in this tournament.
