HIGHLIGHTS

  • Umran crushed the stumps four times last night
  • His fastest ball was bowled tonight with 152.7 KMPH
  • Umran was in exceptional form in this IPL

Indian speedster Umran Malik was in breathtaking form in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday evening. The Srinagar born boy spewed fire on the deck and single-handedly cleared the entire Gujarat Titans batting order to give his team a shot in yesterday’s match.

He set his personal best of 5/25 in his four overs on a night where most bowlers leaked runs by more than 10 RPO. He was named man of the match despite SunRisers losing to Gujarat Titans, which was a testament to the kind of performance Umran had put in.

During the presentation, Umran Malik said that he would like to reach 155 km/h, but that he is currently concentrating on landing the ball in the right places.

Standing next to him was coach Hemang Badani, who works as the local scout at the franchise, insisting that Umran learned the game himself and that he is a raw talent.

“He just learned the game himself. He hasn’t picked up on anyone else. He’s a raw talent and he still has a long way to go. He’s someone special and we’re happy with the way he’s passed Badani said.

During the post-game presentation, SRH head coach Tom Moody added the praise, stating that the best thing about the speedster is his willingness to learn. He added that Umran was quite new to high pressure cricket and that he still has a long way to go.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the match that could have brought them to the top of the points list in the very last ball of the match. Former SRH player Rashid Khan smoked Marco Jansen all over the park in the final to hit 31 from just 11 balls. Rashid went over alongside Rahul Tewatia GT after losing their previous match against SRH in the season with a spectacular 59* partnership on just 24 balls.
